WEEKLY MONSTER 132

Good afternoon. How are you? I hope you’re staying healthy during cold and flu season. (I seem to have caught a little bug this week. Sigh.) I’m also meeting with my fabulous photographer client in a few minutes — more about that in a few months. It’s all hush-hush for now — but of course, it’s Wednesday, so there is a new Monster:

It’s an old school monster without too much animation, but with obvious question marks. I hope you’ll feel inspired to fill in the blanks!

For now, I hope you’re having a great day
and that you know that 344 LOVES YOU

    Hallo Stefan,
What a precious, darling baby giraffe! AND the return of the Daily Monster? What a lucky day!!
    Thanks for the endless smiles,
    Emily
PS, Did you know the giraffe used to be called the camelopard?

A whole month of daily monsters‽ And they say Christmas comes but once a year. I can’t wait.

As for our friend here. He seems to have a severe case cranial heliumidermis. Scary stuff. It puts strain on the spine and will eventually turn the bones in his cervical vertebral column to dust.

Hi Sam, you’ll be happy to know that I actually googled “heliumidermis.” Gah! Of course, I thought that you’re kidding about “camelopard,” Emily. But that turns out to be 100% true. Ha!
As for the Daily Monsters, they’ll be old school — no animation, just drawings. I hope that you won’t be too disappointed by that part.

I definitely won’t be too disappointed that it’ll just be drawings. They’re great on their own! I can’t wait!

This indeed seems to be a whole new version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. This time, he has attempted to cover up his strangely-colored nose with a plain black garment. What perils await him!? Perhaps he’ll meet another monster who suffers from the same pseudoanthozoadermatitis condition. Try to figure that one!

  • 23 January 2008 7:35 pm

Are you saying with friends like these,
    Monster 132 doesn’t need anemones?
    Maybe Rudolph only powers up
his nose for the holiday season.

Psssssh, “just drawings.” Oh, they’re more than just drawings. They’re what drew us in, in the first place! And they’re magical!! I’m looking forward to getting back to my daily dose of monsters, if only for a month. No disappointment here. ^__^

Pseudoanthozoadermatitis: the appearance of false coral-like inflammation of the skin? Sounds painful.
    _________
    As for non-animated monsters?
    All your monsters drawn,
    Though animated or not,
    Are still wonderful.

Well now I think there is more to this little creation that meets the eye. This monster is just about to complete an amazing step in its life-cycle, by giving birth. The bit at the bottom? That’s a whole new monster – when she finally stretches far enough she’ll break free and a new face will appear on her offspring beneath her!

Gebbardus, the Phantom Horse-Skull was once attached to a significantly prestigious horse: you might have read about it. I saw the whole thing, how the jockey exploded in a moderately small human-combustion fireball on the track that murky Sunday afternoon. He had been eating Nerbrek’s brand Atomic Curry, and washing it down with rootbeer, reports later said. Either way, the horse carnage was complete (I lost fifteen bucks on that darn race).
They now say that Gebbardus hangs from the ceiling in the racetrack’s Jockey Cafeteria, warning those small-framed riders to go easy on the spicier foods in a series of whispering neighs…

    Hello Stefan,
Didn’t notice 132 but I’m here to catch up, I think the crawl stretch effect was fabulous, it seems he can’t crawl off the page and he starts thinking of ways to do so.
    The red spots were cool…

awww… this one is really cute. i´m so glad to see more of them this month.
anyway, te special part abour´t the monsters are the drawings so i don´t really care for the animation part. (though that is nice too.)
